Who Am I?
My name is Eric Logan. I currently work for the Georgia Tech Research Institute (part of the Georgia Institute of Technology) as an IT Support Supervisor. I oversee the day-to-day work of a team of four desktop support technicians and two audio/video technicians. My job requires me to collaborate with users within our department in order to gain an understanding of their IT related issues and services that they may require. I also teach IT courses from time to time and even developed a continuing education program to training people on how to get started in the IT industry as a computer support technicians.
Over the 17+ years that I have worked in IT, I have had a desire to advocate the importance of taking an action-oriented approach towards incorporating information security principles and ideologies to help organizations achieve their business objectives by providing a clearer view of potential threats to assets. This results in creating secure and effective solutions which meet both customer expectations and information security objectives.
For some crazy reason, I decided to go back to school to earn a Masters degree in Cybersecurity from Excelsior College in my forties. I know, crazy right? Going back to school allowed me to further my interests and knowledge in the area of cybersecurity because I see it as a vital area in IT with a multitude of professional opportunities. The goal of this site is to serve as a repository for all of my thoughts and research as I make the journey into the world of cybersecurity (as well as other ramblings about technology that might come up).
My areas of interests in cybersecurity include:
- Endpoint Security
- Incident Response
- Digital Forensics
- IT Risk Assessment, Vulnerability and Threat Management
- Policy and Standards Development
- Information Security Awareness
In my personal world, I am a regular and active runner who participates in several racing events a month. I also love reading, collecting comic books, watching old kung-fu movies, playing video games (both Xbox and PlayStation) and I am a huge Atlanta Falcons fan. I am married with a daughter and a cat.
